Pravic Magazine Presents Rudy Rucker and Erik Davis in San Francisco
Pravic announces its 2nd Science Fiction Extravaganza at Brainwash Cafe, April 12th, featuring Philip K. Dick Award winner Rudy Rucker, and psychonaut extraordinaire, author of Techgnosis, Erik Davis.
San Francisco – For Immediate Release — Pravic magazine, the new grammar for science fiction, is throwing its second science fiction extravaganza. On Saturday, April 12, 2014, Pravic’s night of science fiction revelry commences. Come meet and geek out with new and exciting nerds! The evening’s highlights include a sit down Q & A session with influential science fiction author, Rudy Rucker, discussing his latest novel, The Big Aha. Erik Davis, one of the foremost technology and counterculture thinkers will be discussing the connections between Science Fiction, drugs, and the weird.
On Saturday, April 12th, 2014, Rudy Rucker and Erik Davis will speak at Pravic magazine’s 2nd Science Fiction Extravaganza. Other entertainment includes readings by Suhail Rafidi, Ian Kappos, Ben Weiner, Daniel Gonzales, Mike Buckley, and Nikita Allgire. There will be sci fi trivia with prizes, live music by Feral Luggage, as well as food and beer service. Admission is free.
Rudy Rucker is an author, mathematician, and painter who helped found the cyberpunk literary movement. He won his first Philip K. Dick award in 1982. His latest novel, The Big Aha (Transreal), is set in a post-machine world of biotech and quantum wetware. Other books by Mr. Rucker include Infinity and the Mind, The Fourth Dimension, Spaceland, and the Ware Tetralogy.
Erik Davis is co-editor of Philip K. Dick’s Exegesis (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), as well as the author of Techgnosis: Myth, Magic, and Mysticism in the Age of Information. Mr. Davis has written for The Village Voice, Spin, Details, Rolling Stone, and Wired magazines.
Suhail Rafidi’s novel, TJ & Tosc: A Field Guide For Life After Western Culture (Shelldive), has been recently recast into music as the progressive rock opus Perfect Beings. Mr. Rafidi’s novel is also slated for adaptation into a video game.
Ian Kappos was editor at Blue Monday Press. His fiction has appeared in the Neon literary journal, Bartelby Snopes, and Pravic magazine.
The extravaganza will also feature readings by up and coming Pravic alums Ben Weiner, Daniel Gonzales, Mike Buckley, and Nikita Allgire.
Admission is free. Beer, food, and laundry all available on site!
