Pile It On

Current mood:lucid

That’s why our culture has so much STUFF. We’re a culture of technologists – we manifest our thoughts in material objects. the STUFF verifies our thoughts and our identities. can this be escaped? think of the automobile, coupled with Depression era migration. the car became the home. everything lost but the vehicle to get out of the dust bowl and whatever fits on it. Mass exodus from the range into a mechanical box. the Levitown house is simply an extension of that mechanical box. we are only the 2nd generation of the nuclear family. before the second world war, no one grew up in a little home with just mom and dad and sis. we’re still dealing with the affects of the atomization of Kin. the future is in tribes. tribal sensibilities. no matter what you call home, the kitchen is half the home.
